Mickael Dufour-Turgeon
Supervisor, Training
Handlex (Montreal)
Mickael Dufour-Turgeon, a member of the Handlex team, a Transat A.T. Inc. subsidiary, since 2007, is a Ramp Trainer and Supervisor at Montréal–Trudeau airport.
Mickael’s responsibilities are varied. He trains both new and returning staff, and he also manages the files of the various employees.
Handlex is not Mickael’s first job, but the company is his first employer. He previously owned a small Internet café. He applied for his job at Transat after he attended a job fair. He is pleased with his decision: “It is a very rewarding job. I have to make sure that people are trained and able to do their work properly.’’
Mickael enjoys being part of Transat. “The teamwork aspect of my job is very important – we absolutely have to work together. Plus, we do not always work in a closed office. We have three work environments: the classroom, the runway and the office.’’
On a more personal level, Mickael’s hobbies include genealogy, video games and outdoor activities. “I do a bit of research on my ancestors. I’d like to know where I come from.’’ He also enjoys reading and listening to music, including Les Cowboys fringants and Mes Aïeux, two popular Québécois groups.
His favourite vacation destination? “I don’t have a particular one in mind, but any place with an old church, a lighthouse or something with historical significance is great. There are a lot of them in Mexico. I like historic places.”
