Humanitarian aid
Transat is helping in many ways to support disadvantaged host communities. Together with our business units and employees, we assist local, national and international aid organizations in their efforts to improve people’s quality of life. Every year, our air carrier, Air Transat, transports, free of charge, significant quantities of humanitarian goods to countries in the Caribbean and Latin America.

Bolivia
Building a hospital nutrition unit
The Comité international de projet outre-mer (CIPO) of École Polytechnique de Montréal, a world-class engineering school, is building a nutrition unit at Materno Infantil Reidun Roine hospital, in the municipality of Riberalta, Bolivia. This community, among the poorest in the country, has high levels of malnutrition. Transat is helping to finance the project, carried out in conjunction with Oxfam-Quebec and Club 2/3. |
Cuba
The Camaléon Foundation active in Cuba
The Camaléon Foundation, which supports the Antonio Suárez Domínguez school and provincial screening and referral centre in Camagüey, Cuba, has received support from Air Transat for the transportation of medical equipment—specifically, an electrocardiograph, eye test and pressure monitoring equipment, as well as medical and optometry supplies. |

Dominican Republic
Support for Colegio La Isabela in Puerto Plata
Thanks to the generosity of a group of Canadians, and the enthusiastic support of the Air Transat team, the some 100 students of Colegio La Isabela, a primary school in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, now have access to essential goods like school and medical supplies, as well as fine-arts materials, theatre costumes and sports equipment. |
El Salvador
Computer donation to schools in San Salvador
Transat donated 220 computers to an organization in El Salvador that is running a humanitarian initiative called “Computers For All.” The computers have been set up in eight public schools in the capital city of San Salvador, allowing more than 7,000 students learn computer skills. |

Haiti
Humanitarian aid for Espoir d'Enfants orphanage
Air Transat transported, on behalf of Canadian humanitarian aid workers, the material needed to build a solar energy stove for the Espoir d’Enfants orphanage in Haiti. The stove will allow the orphanage to significantly reduce its consumption of propane gas. The workers also distributed essential goods and school supplies to the 120 primary-level students at the orphanage. |
India
International children’s aid project in India
Transat supports the Canadian organization Children’s Care International, which opens rehabilitation centres in developing countries for children who are victims of slavery or sexual exploitation. The project supported by Transat aims to protect children from child labour and debt bondage in the fishing villages of Barripetha and Chinakondarajupalem, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. |

Vietnam
Building a school in Ho Chi Minh City
Vacances Transat has partnered with the organization Les enfants du Mékong to build the Tinh Thuong school, located in Ho Chi Minh City, in southern Vietnam. The much-needed school comprises two large classrooms (approximately 70 m2 each), a multi-purpose room, a kitchen and a cafeteria, spread over three levels. It will serve 200 students, aged 6 to 16, many of whom are street youth. The project enlists the support of our French tour operator’s customers who travel to Vietnam. |
