In our facilities
Transat and its employees are aware of the need to preserve resources and protect the environment for future generations. As a start, our committed and dynamic local environment committees are reducing our environmental footprint in our offices by implementing various employee-focused measures and awareness activities.
Our target milestones and priority actions include using resources in an optimal manner and reducing our consumption of paper, electricity and water; implementing more comprehensive recycling programs; making responsible, sustainable purchases; and ensuring the secure management of our electronic equipment until the end of its life-cycle. Our committees are working in tandem with our computer systems and purchasing departments, as well as the owners of our buildings.
Did you know?
Aware that most of its computers could have a second life, Transat donated more than 400 of them to the organization Ordinateurs pour les écoles du Québec (OPEQ) when upgrading some of its equipment. OPEQ collects old computers, refurbishes them and distributes them to Quebec schools. Obsolete computers are recycled in an environmentally safe manner by one of the organization’s partners. OPEQ manages, for Quebec, the national Computers for Schools program created by Industry Canada and Telephone Pioneers of America.
As far as employee awareness is concerned, we have organized a number of activities, such as an “Green Day,” which includes presentations, educational activities and demonstrations. We regularly use our internal communications tools (e-newsletters, intranets, etc.) to remind staff of the importance of incorporating the three Rs (reduce, re-use, recycle) into their day-to-day routines.
