Samana: Dominican resorts for the spirited traveller

Your Samana Vacation

Columbus called Samaná “the fairest land on the face of the Earth,” and it still is. Isolated until recently from the Dominican Republic’s mainstream tourism, the peninsula features relatively few hotels and all-inclusive resorts and you feel like you’re vacationing in uncharted territory.

Discover Samana in a new light

Welcome to the Samana Peninsula! A corner of paradise nestled on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, renowned for its spectacular beaches and breathtaking landscapes. Embark on the discovery of its most beautiful beaches.

Explore the inspiring journey of Julie L, a member of the Transat team: an adventure amidst heavenly beaches and unforgettable memories.

  • "Samana remains, over the years, one of my most beautiful travel memories, especially Rincon Beach which has retained its wild and natural side. The sea water is crystal clear and has a vibrant turquoise colour. The view of the mountains and the numerous palm trees around offers an extraordinary panorama. The place is not overrun by hordes of tourists, so one can dream of being on a deserted beach! What I liked most about that day was undoubtedly the dinner, taken in a tiny beachside restaurant where they serve freshly caught fish and lobsters cooked on charcoal, all while sitting with our feet in the sand, savouring the extraordinary landscape before us."

  • "I must also give a special mention to Cayo Levantado Island Beach. It feels almost like a Caribbean postcard with its white sand, turquoise water, and lush vegetation. Unusual encounters are also possible, such as a seal wandering along the beach and approaching people! The Samana region is full of surprises and discoveries."

Good to know

Presence of Sargassum in Mexico and the Caribbean
Depending on the weather conditions, winds and tides may bring large quantities of Sargassum to shore. Since seaweed moves with the ocean currents, quantities may vary by place and day. Transat would like to inform its clients that this natural phenomenon beyond its control affects several parts of Mexico and the Caribbean. Although the presence of this brown seaweed is greater than usual, our hotel partners are making every effort to clean the beaches when necessary.
