  • Audrey St-Jean ♥ Mboma Chendjou

    May 8, 2017

Mboma and Audrey were dressed as a bride and groom when they got engaged. The occasion? They were posing as man and wife for a photo shoot. The day was unfolding calmly, at least for Audrey, until Mboma got down on one knee and popped the question. "Everything was planned, but I never saw that coming," the bride recalls.

It was wonderful, spontaneous… and all captured by the camera! The couple wanted to go south for their wedding and Cuba was calling .              ↱

  • "The island is frozen in the ‘50s," adds Audrey. The couple chose a travel theme for their nuptials and, as Audrey details, "we thanked our guests with fans inscribed with our names and the wedding date.” And the travellers noticed the attention to detail.

  • The couple wanted to make the most of the views, so they exchanged their vows in the hotel's gazebo with stunning turquoise waters as the backdrop. "One of the highlights of my day was seeing my wife-to-be arrive for the ceremony in her dress,” recalls Mboma. Words cannot describe the emotions they felt.

  • The resort’s magnificent beach was the perfect setting for their wedding photos. Afterwards, the celebrations continued with dinner at the hotel’s Creole restaurant and dancing at the discotheque, reserved especially for them.

Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort

Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort
Riviera Maya, Mexico

Standing on a white-sand beach, they promised to love each other forever at this posh hotel AKUMAL BAY BEACH & WELLNESS RESORT in Riviera Maya, Mexico.

  • April 11, 2018

AFTER GETTING ENGAGED IN PORTUGAL, Charlene and Etienne chose to celebrate their big day with family and friends in Riviera Maya. “Why Mexico? That’s where we went on our first trip together. We fell in love with it, with all its water sports and diving.”

Before they exchanged their vows “under a Caribbean sun, with our feet in the sand,” the lovebirds even went paddleboarding and snorkelling.              ↱

  • Then, Charlene and Etienne each went off to get ready for the ceremony. They arranged to meet in the jungle for the first look. “We wanted to have a quiet moment together before the wedding,” explains the bride. “It was just perfect—like something out of a fairy tale.”

  • The celebration was elegant, in a streamlined decor with touches of green and white. “The scenery was so breathtaking that we only added flowers. I didn’t want to take away from the natural beauty,” says Charlene.

  • Seven years after they met, among 60 of their loved ones, the betrothed became husband and wife. For both newlyweds and guests, getting together for a private ceremony on the beach was wonderful.

    Wedding Bells

  • “With a destination wedding, there’s always excitement in the air,” says Charlene. “Everyone’s on holiday, in a tropical setting, and the real world seems so far away. It doesn’t get any better than that.” It’s a moment everyone will treasure forever.

(Riviera Maya, Mexico)

    April 25, 2018

“WE INITIALLY PLANNED to have our wedding on the sand,” Elyse shares. “However, we were unsure about the weather so we moved it to the ballroom at our resort, the Fives Azul Beach Resort Playa Del Carmen, by Karisma, and were so glad we did. It was spacious, beautiful, and perfectly private for our rambunctious dance party! Picking the resort was the hardest part of the planning but I can honestly say that it paid off. The hotel was absolutely stunning, and the service was amazing. The food at the resort was always top notch; I haven’t had food this good at a resort or on holidays ever.  ↱

  • We decided not to use “traditional” destination wedding colours. Pinterest played a big role in helping us choose the colour palette, which ended up being a mix of blush, rose gold, gold, navy, and grey. It gave our venue such a romantic look. The ceremony was on the sky rooftop, overlooking the ocean. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful setting.

  • My dress was very dear and near to my heart. It was purchased from the Bride’s Project in Toronto. The Bride’s Project takes previously loved gowns from past brides or sample dresses from bridal salons and sells them to new brides for a fraction of the price. All of their proceeds go to breast cancer research and awareness.

  • One of the best parts about having a destination wedding is that all your guests get to mingle. Our guests got to know each other very well in the days prior to the wedding. This made our non-stop dance party even better. It was so fun to see people of all ages mixing, relaxing and having the best time—all while the tequila shots were still flowing!”

  • Valérie ♥ Antoine

    April 4, 2016

It was love at first sight when Antoine and Valérie met in the winter of 2013. Since then, they’ve both fallen madly in love... with Jamaica! How could you not be bewitched by its idyllic beaches, crystal clear waters and friendly people? In the summer of 2014, during a second trip to the enchanting island, Antoine chose a quiet time by the hotel's swimming pool—turquoise sea and palm trees in the background—to pop the Big Question. Since it’s hard to hide an engagement ring when you’re only wearing a swimsuit, he clutched it in his hand behind his back.

  • Valerie said "yes" and three years later, they returned to their land of love with little Eva, their adorable four-month-old daughter.

  • The couple’s passion for the tropical island was so infectious, all the guests fell in love with it too! This exciting time together sparked bonds that made everyone beam with happiness.

  • Is it hard to decide on the perfect destination wedding? Not for Antoine and Valerie! In April 2016, the lovebirds returned to Jamaica for the fourth time to celebrate their union. They exchanged vows before thirty family and friends under a magnificent beachside gazebo, draped in satin and pearls, at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton, a piece of paradise midway between Negril and Montego Bay.

  • For the newlyweds, there’s only one thing to do to keep their romantic tradition alive: go back to Jamaica again and again to fan the flames of love!

  • Shauna ♥ Dustin

    March 27, 2016

It was the wedding Shauna had dreamt about. Nay, even the wedding in her dreams would be jealous of this. Strolling down the golden-sand aisle to swaying palms, the soundtrack of waves crashing onto shore and the setting sun soaking the jade waters in a luminous glow. And let’s not forget the man waiting for her at the end of that aisle, her beloved Dustin. A smile dawned on her face as she remembered how they got here…

  • The couple met two years ago through friends at a party at Dustin’s house. And while their memory is impeccable(ish) when recalling what the other one wore that night, a smidge of fog sets in when recounting their first kiss.

  • It may not have been love at first sight, but love didn’t dawdle either. Just one month after dating, Dustin and Shauna jetted off to Puerto Vallarta for a romantic escape at Now Amber. And somewhere between hidden coves and strolls on the pristine beach, they fell in love.

  • So when it came time to planning their wedding, the choice was obvious. On March 27, 2016, Shauna and Dustin said “I do” in front of 30 family members and friends at Now Amber Puerto Vallarta under a draped arch that framed the sea like a window into paradise, just as the weary sun dipped lazily into the sparkling waters. It was the wedding of their dreams, indeed.

  • Alexandra Cabral ♥ Brandon Fellner

    January 23, 2017

Brandon and I both love travelling. We decided that on our next vacation, we would include all our family and friends and get married! We had previously travelled to Riviera Maya in Mexico and had an amazing experience, so we knew that it would be the perfect place to say our ‘I dos.’ There are a ton of activities and excursions for our guests to take part in, and we knew it wouldn’t disappoint.

We were so impressed with how our resort, the Grand Palladium Kantenah Resort & Spa, took care of us. When we landed in Mexico, there was a bus waiting for our group to take us directly to the resort.  ↱

  • When we got there, we were attended to immediately. We were able to meet with the wedding co-ordinator and photographer the next day, and we didn’t feel like it interfered with our vacation time.

  • Our guests loved the activity and food options. Some of them did one excursion a day, and many of them were able to relax poolside while their kids played on the waterslides. There were also plenty of a-la-carte options for our guests. My parents really enjoyed their morning beach walks, followed by coffee at the beach bar. Each of our guests had a different experience, but they all left with such great memories.

  • Our wedding day went off without a hitch. My sisters and family commented on how relaxed I was from beginning to end. I did my own hair and had my makeup done at the spa, and they did an incredible job. Since our ceremony was in the afternoon, Brandon and I spent some time with family and friends at the pool bar.

  • The beach bash near the end of the reception was definitely a highlight. Brandon created a playlist based on our guests’ requests. When the DJ started playing my favourite song, “Paradise” by Coldplay, both our families huddled in a large circle, singing their hearts out. It was an amazing ending to the most memorable day of my life.
