More than ever, travellers want flexibility, and for some, getting a refund should they decide to cancel their booking is very important. So, to give them the ultimate level of flexibility, we offer two types of Option Flex for South and Europe packages: Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra.

The flexible terms and conditions offered with Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra override our regular terms and conditions, which are more restrictive. Please review terms and conditions.

  • For $89 per person for both South and Europe packages, Option Flex Standard allows you to:

    • Change your travel dates, destination, hotel, room category or room occupancy up to 72 hours before departure from Canada
    • Cancel your trip up to 72 hours before departure and get a travel credit in the amount of the penalty at the time of cancellation, and a refund for the balance
    • Transfer your vacation package to a friend or family member up to 30 days before departure

  • For $149 per person for both South and Europe packages, Option Flex Extra offers even more flexibility than Option Flex Standard allows you to:

    • Change your travel dates, destination, hotel, room category or room occupancy up to 24 hours before departure from Canada
    • Cancel your trip up to 24 hours before departure and get a refund for the amount paid at the time of cancellation
    • Transfer your vacation package to a friend or family member up to 30 days before departure

Plus, with both options, there are no carrier surcharges once you’ve booked.

Which products does Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra apply to?

Which products does Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra apply to?

Option Flex: Standard and Extra applies to Transat South and Europe packages. It is available all year round. Option Flex must be purchased by all customers sharing the same room and paid for at the time of the booking and is non-refund.

For the South, it does not apply to groups, air-only bookings, à la carte hotels, guided tours, United States packages, Cartagena & Baru Duo packages, or packages that include flights with an airline other than Air Transat. Option Flex also does not apply to packages to Velas Resorts, Marival Residences Luxury Nuevo Vallarta, Marival Distinct Luxury Residences, Sandals Resorts, Beaches Resorts or Couples Resorts.

For Europe, it does not apply to groups, air-only bookings, à la carte hotels, guided tours, Sorrento & Amalfi multi-city packages, Sorrento & Positano multi-city packages, or packages that include car rental, flights with an airline other than Air Transat or transfers by air, train, cruise, ferry or speedboat.

During booking, Option Flex Standard and Extra will only be suggested if it applies to the product selected.

No, Option Flex Standard or Option Flex Extra must be purchased at the time of booking. It is non-refundable.

Changes to the booking

Up to when can changes be made?

Name changes can be made up to 30 days before departure. Changes to travel dates, destination, hotel, room category or occupancy can be made up to 72 hours before departure from Canada for Option Flex Standard and up to 24 hours before departure from Canada for Option Flex Extra. All changes are subject to hotel and flight availability.

Can more than one change be made to the same file?

Yes. Multiple changes can be made, but they must all be made at the same time. Additional changes after that will be subject to penalty. Changes are subject to availability.

If the package price is higher after a change, will I be required to pay the difference? If lower, will I be refunded?

If the price for the new travel dates/destination/hotel/room category/room occupancy is higher, you must pay the difference. No refund will be given should the price be lower than the initial price.

Can I repurchase Option Flex on a new package?

Yes. Option Flex Standard or Option Flex Extra can be repurchased but only at the time the change is made.

Can I pay a change fee instead of using Option Flex?

No. If Option Flex Standard or Option Flex Extra is on file, it must be used.

Cancellations

How much time do I have to cancel a booking?

With Option Flex Standard, you can cancel up to 72 hours before departure from Canada.
With Option Flex Extra, you can cancel up to 24 hours before departure from Canada.

Will I be refunded?

With Option Flex Standard, if you cancel up to 72 hours before departure, you will receive a travel credit in the amount of the penalty at the time of cancellation, and the balance will be refunded in the original method of payment. The refund excludes the amount paid for Option Flex Standard.

You will receive the travel credit and refund within about 15 days. Travel credits will be issued in the name of each traveller on file at your travel agency and may be redeemed for any Transat product.

With Option Flex Extra, if you cancel up to 24 hours before departure, you will get a refund for the amount paid at the time of cancellation, in the method of payment on file. This excludes the amount paid for Option Flex Extra.

How long after cancellation do I have to wait before booking another package?

For both Option Flex Standard and Option Flex Extra, you must wait 15 days after cancellation to make a new booking.

Can I repurchase Option Flex on a new package booked with Option Flex credit?

Yes. If Option Flex is valid on the new package, it can be repurchased, but this must be done at the time of booking.

What happens if the new package price is lower than the credit?

Any leftover credit will remain on file and can be redeemed any time until expiry.

Can I use my Option Flex credit on any product?

Yes. Option Flex credits can be redeemed for any Transat product, including packages to Europe, the South and the United States, flights, Club Class and Option Flex Standard or Option Flex Extra.

Can I purchase Option Flex Standard or Extra if I have a COVID-19 travel credit?

Yes, if you’d like more flexibility, you can purchase Option Flex Standard or Option Flex Extra when redeeming your COVID-19 travel credit on a package.

How can I cancel or make changes?

All requests for changes or cancellations must be made through your travel agent. If your travel agent is unavailable within the time window required for changes or cancellations (up to 72 hours before departure for Option Flex Standard and 24 hours before departure for Option Flex Extra), you should complete the online cancellation form to process the request.

Can I book through another agency after cancelling?

No. After cancelling, the Option Flex credit will remain on your file. Since your file can only be modified by the travel agent who created it, you cannot book through another agency. In the event that the original travel agency is closed, you are asked to contact Transat directly.

Can I use Option Flex as a way to secure a lower rate if my package price drops?

No. There is no refund if the price of the package drops.

Is Option Flex the same price for children?

Yes. The price and conditions remain the same for all travellers who purchase Option Flex.

Is Option Flex taxable?

No.

Are Option Flex travel credits transferable?

No. Option Flex travel credits are non-transferable.
