The company’s operations at Montréal–Trudeau and Pearson–Toronto airports
will continue as normal
Montreal, February 15, 2011
Handlex, a Transat A.T. Inc. business unit that provides airport ground services, has locked out its 400 ramp and cargo services employees at Montreal and Toronto international airports following their rejection of the company’s latest offer for the renewal of the collective agreement and the union declaring a strike.
A contingency plan was implemented immediately to ensure that operations and services to all airlines served by Handlex, including Air Transat, will not be disrupted. As a result, all Air Transat flights, among others, are expected to operate normally.
Handlex provides airport ground handling services, including passenger greeting and check-in, baggage- and cargo-handling, aircraft cleaning as well as ramp services, at Montreal (Trudeau and Mirabel), Toronto and Vancouver international airports. Handlex, with 1,200 employees in the country, is a partner of some 20 Canadian air carriers. Handlex is a business unit of Transat A.T. Inc., an integrated international tour operator with more than 60 destination countries and that distributes products in over 50 countries.
