Air Transat celebrates its first Montreal-Glasgow flight

Montreal, May 30, 2016 – Air Transat is proud to inaugurate its first direct flight between Montreal and Glasgow, Scotland. This new service will be offered every Sunday from May 29 to October 2, in addition to three weekly connecting flights via Toronto.

“We are very pleased to offer a direct flight to Scotland to our customers in Quebec,” says Annick Guérard, President and General Manager of Transat Tours Canada. “Glasgow is a modern, trendy and avant-garde city that keeps drawing more and more travellers in search of an exciting destination. This new service perfectly complements our UK program, which includes three weekly direct flights to London from Montreal, as well as a wide selection of connecting flights to London, Manchester and Birmingham via Toronto.”

“Scotland is more connected than ever before through transport and digital channels, giving it a louder voice within key markets like Canada, and this new route will further strengthen its international reach in North America,” says Malcolm Roughead, Chief Executive at VisitScotland.

“Given that 4.7 million Canadians have Scottish roots, including around 100,000 in the Montreal area, this new service unlocks the potential for many more visitors to discover the spirit of Scotland in their ancestral home.”

Serving 28 destinations in 13 European countries, Air Transat meets, more than ever, the desires of travellers in search of new discoveries this season. It also offers multi-destination options, which allow travellers to land in one city and return from another, at no extra cost. Therefore, a trip to Glasgow could end in Dublin, Ireland, or a big city in England.

Moreover, passengers flying to Europe will enjoy an incomparable travel experience with Air Transat, voted best leisure airline in North America four years in a row. The comfortable cabins, personalized inflight entertainment system accessible via individual touch screens or Air Transat’s CinePlus A app, free baggage allowance and attentive crew are just some of the reasons that make Air Transat flights so pleasant.
